Muhammad was the last Prophet of Islam. He was born in Mecca in Saudi Arabia in 570. Muhammad was a very religious man and spent most of his time meditating on Mount Hira. In the Qur'an it tells us how in 610 Muhammad was medatating one night in a cave and the angel Jibreel visited him and ordered Muhammad to recite, he hesitated but when Jibreel mentioned the name of Allah, Muhammad began to recite words which he thought were the words of God. During the rest of his life Muhammad kept getting these visits, they were taken down and put in the Holy Qu'ran, Muslim scripture. His popularity was seen as threatening by the people in power in Mecca. So Muhammad left and took his followers on a journey from Mecca to Medina in 622. After ten years Muhammad had gained so many followers that he could return to conquer Mecca.
